Annapolis Royal Generating Station
20 MW tidal barrage on the Bay of Fundy, long the only tidal power plant in North America.
Overview
Opened in 1984 at the mouth of the Annapolis River in Nova Scotia, it used a single large Straflo turbine to exploit some of the highest tides on Earth. It was shut down in 2019 after equipment failure and concerns over fish deaths.
