Bruce Nuclear Generating Station
About 6,550 MW on site, the largest operating nuclear plant in the world by capacity.
Overview
Eight CANDU pressurized heavy water reactors on Lake Huron, commissioned 1977 to 1987, supply roughly a quarter of Ontario electricity. Units are being progressively refurbished from 2020 to extend life toward the 2060s. The CANDU design runs on natural uranium without enrichment.
