Overview
Opened in 1981 as part of the James Bay Project, then the largest hydro scheme in the western world. The plant sits in a cavern larger than many stadiums and feeds Hydro-Quebec grids, including exports to New England. Its famous stepped spillway appears in countless documentaries.
