Glen Canyon Dam
1,320 MW concrete arch dam on the Colorado River forming Lake Powell.
Overview
Completed in 1966 near Page, Arizona, its eight turbines supply power across the Southwest. Environmentalists still mourn the flooded Glen Canyon. Drought drew Lake Powell to record lows in the 2020s, raising fears that it could fall below the level needed to generate power.
