Overview

Three powerhouses completed 1942 to 1980 house 33 turbines. Grand Coulee electricity drove wartime aluminum output and still underpins Pacific Northwest supply plus irrigation via the Columbia Basin Project. The dam is the largest concrete structure in the United States by volume.
