Palo Verde
About 3,900 MW plant west of Phoenix, the largest US generator for decades.
Overview
Three pressurized reactors commissioned 1986 to 1988 sit in the desert far from any large water body. They cool with treated municipal wastewater from Phoenix and Tucson, a global first at this scale. Yearly output around 30 TWh makes it the top US producer.
