Monroe Power Plant
3,200 MW DTE station on the Lake Erie shore, among the largest US coal plants.
Overview
Four 800 MW units opened in 1974. Monroe burns blends of Powder River Basin and Appalachian coal delivered by rail and lake freighter. Scrubber retrofits in the 2010s cut sulfur output sharply as Michigan plans its coal exit.
