Kashiwazaki-Kariwa
About 8,000 MW nameplate, for years the largest nuclear plant on Earth.
Overview
Seven boiling water reactors on the Sea of Japan coast ran from 1985. A strong 2007 earthquake shut the site for years, and post Fukushima rules have kept it offline since 2012. Restart attempts continue while local consent remains unresolved.
