Medupi Power Station
4,764 MW dry cooled coal station in Limpopo, among the largest coal plants in the world.
Overview
Six 794 MW units were completed between 2015 and 2021 after years of delays and design faults that inflated costs. Dry cooling cuts water use in the arid Waterberg region. Eskom hoped Medupi would end load shedding, but breakdowns limited its output for years.
