Navajo Generating Station
2,250 MW coal plant near Page, Arizona, closed in 2019.
Overview
Opened in the 1970s on Navajo Nation land, it burned coal from the Kayenta mine and powered the pumps of the Central Arizona Project. Cheap natural gas made it uneconomic and it shut in November 2019. Its three 236 m stacks were demolished in 2020.
